Often working outdoors in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Colcord captures the immediacy of the natural world while integrating imaginative landscapes. His approach reveals the hidden mysteries of everyday life, as seen in Gentrification of the Dead, acquired by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The painting merges cityscapes, ritual objects, and architectural motifs, reflecting on histories of displacement and resilience. 

Colcord received the Tournesol Award at Headlands Center for the Arts (2021–22), and his works are held in notable collections including The De Young Museum and Fidelity Investments.
