Care Instructions for Works on Paper
- Handle with clean hands or gloves
Always handle paper works with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves to avoid transferring oils or moisture. - Avoid direct sunlight
UV rays can cause fading and discoloration. Display artworks away from direct sunlight or use UV-protective glazing when framing. - Maintain a stable environment
Paper is sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Aim for a consistent climate, ideally around 18 to 22°C (64 to 72°F) and 45 to 55 percent humidity. - Keep away from damp areas
Spaces near water such as coastal homes, bathrooms, or kitchens can cause paper to warp or attract mold. Proper framing can provide a protective barrier. - Store flat or upright, never rolled
If not framed or displayed, store works in acid-free folders or portfolios and keep them flat or upright, not rolled. - Framing
Framing protects the artwork from environmental damage, prevents yellowing, and ensures longevity, especially in humid or coastal conditions.
